A card problem that started as a personal grudge.

The Problem
Crypto in Nigeria is not a speculation problem. It is a spending problem. People hold value on-chain and then hit a wall the moment they try to use it anywhere that matters — a subscription, a checkout page, a flight.
The gap between 'I have money' and 'I can pay for this' is where most crypto products quietly give up. Cardra lives in that gap.
The Personal Frustration
- 01Cards getting declined for no stated reasondeclined
- 02Online payments that simply refuse to go throughdeclined
- 03Subscriptions renewing without permissiondeclined
- 04No real control over the card once it existsdeclined
The Idea
If the card is the point of failure, make the card programmable. Not a single fragile number attached to your entire balance — a system of cards you create, fund, and destroy on your own terms.
That reframing produced the two card concepts the whole product is built around.
Temporary vs Permanent
One card is a home address. The other is a hotel room you check out of.
Permanent card
your daily driver- Long-lived, for the merchants you trust
- Funded from your main balance
- Freeze, unfreeze, set limits
Temporary card
burn after checkout- Spun up for a single purchase or trial
- Funded with exactly what it needs
- Expires on its own — a subscription cannot renew against a card that no longer exists
Crypto → Fiat, and back
The rails have to be boring and invisible. Users should be thinking about the thing they are buying, not about settlement.
- 01Hold on-chain
- 02Fund a card
- 03Spend in fiat
- 04Settle back
- 05Repeat
The Inheritance Vault
Self-custody has an ending nobody designs for. Keys die with people, and the funds sit on-chain forever with no one able to reach them.
The vault is Cardra's answer: a way to lock assets with conditions that let them reach the right people if you are no longer around to move them yourself. It is the least glamorous feature in the product and probably the most important one.
Building It
Smart contracts for the parts that must be trustless, a real backend for the parts that must be fast, and queues for everything that must never be lost.
